Degree Programs & Certificates

Biochemistry

As a major in biochemistry, you will gain a rich understanding of the structure and function of biological molecules that make up living systems. You will also learn about metabolic pathways and their clinical implications in diseases such as diabetes, obesity, and cancer, and more importantly, how these pathways are connected. The biochemistry major will give you a strong foundation to pursue a career in medicine, biotechnology, bioengineering, biochemistry, and other growing biomedical science-related fields.

Biological Sciences

What is life, at the fundamental level? What is its infrastructure? How do its mechanisms and processes work? We ask big questions in Department of Biological Sciences at Fordham. You learn the answers in the class, in the lab, and on site at several of New York City’s leading scientific institutions.

Master of Science in Biological Sciences

At Fordham, our graduate students are in the lab and out in the field, seeking solutions to these questions and more. Our master of science program provides a unique cross-disciplinary experience that will increase your versatility, grounding you in cutting-edge molecular tools and techniques as well as systems biology. You’ll specialize in one of two tracks:

Health Care Ethics (Adv Cert)

The Advanced Certificate program’s curriculum consists of four courses: three discipline-based courses and one capstone course. At least one of the discipline-based courses must be from a humanities discipline, and at least one must be from a social sciences discipline; the third discipline-based course may be from either a humanities or a social sciences discipline.

Post-Baccalaureate Pre-Medical/Pre-Health Program

The Fordham Post-Baccalaureate Pre-Med/Pre-Health Program (PBPH) is for college graduates interested in a career in the health professions and need prerequisite science courses. The program offers the pre-med curriculum in the evening during the academic year and summer sessions to prepare students for application to medical, dental, physician assistant, veterinary, nursing, physical therapy, occupational therapy, or anesthesiology assistant programs.
